First up, in the People Played By Daveed Diggs District, both Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette are chosen, and decide they may as well join, since they have a chance to
steal the cannons of bring revolution to the Hunger Games. They look suspiciously similar, but so does everyone else in the district. Nobody comments on this though. The other residents of the district wish Lafayette and Jefferson luck, their voices sounding strangely similar, which, again, no one comments on.
The second results to come in are those from the Les Miserables District, where everyone has died at least once, unless you're Marius and Cosette. Jean Valjean volunteers to protect his adopted daughter, and Javert, being Javert, volunteers so he can pursue Valjean and uphold his idea of justice. They're both technically dead, so they're magically revived so they can die again. Because physics or something. Cosette tearfully waves goodbye to her adopted father, and some police people tell Javert not to die, and also remind him that he's not allowed to attack the other contestants (i.e. Valjean) until the games start.
In the Disney District, Gaston volunteers to prove his MANLY MANLINESS™ to Belle, who is... unimpressed, to say the least. She doesn't even look up from her copy of
The Silmarillion as he flexes goodbye. You know, like a normal MANLY™ person. (the author would like to add that they've never seen Beauty and the Beast in its entirety except as a school play and thus don't really know how Gaston acts). Meanwhile, in the Lion King area of the district, Zazu's name was drawn. He panicked and tried to hide behind Simba, but ultimately ended up having to participate in the Hunger Games anyways.
Fourth, in the Technically Disney But Also Kingdom Hearts District, Squid Donald's name is drawn, prompting him to stop doing whatever the heck people do in Atlantica and go join the fray, probably with magic, since he's from Kingdom Hearts. (the author also needs to play Kingdom Hearts
) Mickey's summons, however, takes a while to get to him through the union of mops that were threatening to go on strike. Eventually, of course, he concedes to be part of the Hunger Games if only so the mops will stop bothering him.
The fifth district, the Actually A Meme District, is quite chaotic, but eventually a consensus is reached. Robbie Rotten enters, but is upset that he is unable to bring his disguise machine, fattening foods, or cloning machine into the arena. The Game Masters say "too bad" and make him sign up anyways. Meanwhile, Leo, Alexander Hamilton's Taxi Driver, is chosen on the basis that "kun knows about this meme, and this hunger games has them as an audience". He is not allowed to bring his taxi or his ridiculously fancy armor, much to his annoyance.
In the next district, the Temporary District that is literally the Avadonia Family District, Leonhart Avadonia volunteers to protect his adopted daughter, Germaine Avadonia. Allen, however, is chosen, and as Leonhart has already volunteered in order to protect Germaine, he cannot volunteer again to protect Allen, since he'd be fighting himself, and we all know how much of a mess that is from either videos or experience of fighting Dark Link in Zelda II. Besides, the budget doesn't include cloning, it only includes reviving people from the dead.
The Overly Flamboyant People District always receives a lot of volunteers. They receive so many volunteers, in fact, that the volunteers must compete in a stage performance a la high school talent shows to be allowed entrance to the games. The winners of this season's competition are Saterasis Venomania, who's infamous for seducing women and having them live in his basement for some reason, and Mettaton, the flashy calculator who wants a humanoid form. Venomania probably just signed up to show off and/or seduce people, but Mettaton is hoping to win so he can get a humanoid form.
The seventh district, the Ask Planetbox district, is a special case. The Reaping here isn't done by chance, but rather by request of an odd deity called Planetbox. The reason it's called the "Ask Planetbox District" is because all the residents want to ask Planetbox a singular question: "Why?" The tributes for this season are Professor Harold Hill and Sharpay Evans, who, as per the norm for their district, are asking this fickle god to explain his motivations for choosing them.
The Fancy People District is a rather exclusive one, as you must be
fancy to get in. Many people in this district have a decent, but not overly flamboyant fashion sense, or wear cravats. In the former category is Morticia Addams, who is a classically fashionable 1900sish woman and coincidentally the first tribute from this district. The other tribute from this district, Turnabout Musical Edgeworth, falls into the latter category of cravat wearers, although he would be decently fancy without his cravat.
The ninth district, locally known as the Relatively Normal People District, is an oasis of sanity among all this chaos. At least, that's what it says in the notes from the Game Masters. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen. Either way, the tributes from this district are Edmund Pevensie, whose first name I nearly typed as "Edmune" (cut me some slack, finals week just finished), and a young man who is only known as "The Dork". The Sheriff's Secret Police have searched high and low for the true identity of this man, but the only clues they could find screamed with the voices of the tortured and broke apart into dust when exposed to light, so there were ultimately no leads.
The eleventh district is the Video Game Protagonists District, where protagonists from rhythm games, both popular and obscure, live. The tributes from this district are Tempo, from a game called Harmoknight which the author hasn't played, and Baton, from Tadpole Treble, a game that the author REALLY NEEDS TO PLAY. So yeah, can't say much about their motivations, but here they are!
In the twelfth district, there are only four people, but in essence, they are all the same person. This district is the fabled "Reincarnations of Eve Moonlit" district, which is participating for the first, and possibly last, time in the Hunger Games. The two reincarnations of Eve participating in this season are Mikulia, who is a flower seller whose past shall not be spoken of, and Platonic, a phantom thief. Of course, both of them are actually Eve's soul in the Clockwork Doll, but they can still do stuff. Somehow.
