"It's settled then." Malachi said, turning back to Melvile. " We will all come with you, and if you try and leave us we'll just follow regardless. Let us be off!" He said, walking towards Pierce Street.

Pantages waited for her mentor, making a flower crown as she slowly walked. This one had lilacs and Virginia bluebells.

"All right, if you all really want to join me, who am I to stop you?" Melville tries to stay serious. "Let's go see what's going on in this place."

Hedron noticed the approaching crowd and waved them toward the dilapitated pierce street theater.
"Ah, so you all made it, I was beginning to wonder."

"Hedron." Melville nods, acknowledging his presence, then looks up at the Pierce Street Theater. "There isn't much left here. I wonder what there might be to find..."

"Well, we will never learn anything if we do not make the attempt." Malachi said, stupidly merrily hopping up the steps to the door.

Melville watches Malachi hopping up the steps, unsure how to react exactly. "I think I'll go around back. There's a ramp for deliveries I can use as impromptu wheelchair access."

"Someone's gotta keep lookout, in case someone suspicious comes in..." Jackalline takes out a cell phone, holding it up to the others unopened. "I have this, so I can probably let you all know if something comes up. I'll be waiting across the street. Communication is key." Knowing everyone has that in mind, or at least hoping so, he walks across, keeping an eye out. That's kinda why he has those binoculars, right? He took a seat on a nearby bench, acting like he was waiting for someone to pick him up.

Melville nods in agreement. "Excellent. Everyone keep their phones on. I'm going around back to the delivery ramp."

Pantages turns her phone on, and enters the theater, planning to meet her mentor by the back entrance. "See you in a bit." she says as she opens the door to the hollowed-out shell.

Melville looks around the interior of the burned theater. He enters onto the stage, which is the worst damaged of all of it. "This fire was a horrible tragedy. It's hard to believe there was only one casualty."

Pantages hasn't been a Narrator long enough to know about the fire, but looking around, she can imagine how panicked everyone would have been on that day. A single tear rolls down her cheek as she observes her surroundings.

Malachi idly walks towards the stage, looking at the destruction around him and wondering why ticket prices were so high.

Melville idly plays with a burned curtain. "Like I said, not much left."
Thank you Malachi, thank you. I'm laughing too hard to take this theater seriously anymore.

"Yes, well, what was here wasn't all that exciting by The looks of it. I do wonder why it was never rebuilt..."
Yeah, I enjoyed it myself. I wanted it to be something else, but Malachi wouldn't let me. Wowo Malachi ur so rood.

Melville shrugs. "Probably what happened here. A person died on this spot, and those involved don't want to come back to this place because of the memories."
That happens to me more than I care to admit with other characters of mine. Yeah, Malachi, geez!

Malachi looks confused. "Hold on, who was the chap that died here anyway?"

Melville turns solemn. "It was a tech guy for the show named Jack Castell. He was trapped in the sound booth and couldn't make it out in time. Apparently somebody locked the door of the booth from the outside."

Malachi solemnly bows his head. He's been in the Narrator Corps long enough to see these kinds of power games and regret a person dying simply because they're in the way.

Melville points towards the sound booth, which is burned beyond recognition. "There it is. Ironically, that's also where the fire started."

Pantages had been in the sound booth, and at the mention of this, crouches down, crying quietly. Her fingers trace incoherent pathways through the ash.

Melville calls out to her. "Pantages, are you alright?"

"I-I'm fine!" Pantages calls back, her voice shaky. She picks up some ash and it falls through her fingers. She's never seen this place before it burned down, and when she learned that someone died here.... She cries the ocean down her face.
Because metaphors and writing.

Melville sighs, looking around at the theater. "It's horrible, but when it was investigated, the fire was discovered to be nothing more than a tragic accident. It was a common electrical fire."

Malachi gains a suspicious look. "There's no way that could have been a coincidence..."
