Hello, forums! This is a thread to discuss anime and manga in. You can talk about what you're watching or reading right now, what you want to maybe check out some time, or just ask for recommendations.
I guess I'll start out by mentioning the anime I watched most recently- Evangelion 2.2.2: You Can (not) Advance. I've never seen anything Evangelion before that, and I'm vaguely sure it might be a sequel to something. A school friend let me borrow their DVD. I was a little skeptical at first since it was my first mecha anime and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. However, once I got into it, I found the movie really enjoyable. Some parts of it were actually very funny. However, the thing that really most sold me on this movie was probably Asuka Langley. I absolutely hated her at the beginning, but as the movie went on, she grew on me quite a lot. If a movie takes a character I absolutely despise at the beginning and make them into one of my favorite people in the movie, then they're doing something right since my opinion of characters rarely changes. I don't want to give any of the plot away, but I feel compelled to mention that I absolutely lost it crying at the end. It's not so much the sadness of the ending, just the combination of the music and the characters' dialogue. If you think that's pathetic, you should see me watching Attack on Titan.

I've never seen that, I'll try to once I have time. I haven't really had time to watch any anime recently due to school, but I watched Hetalia last summer, and have seen a few episodes of Attack on Titan, only to have it spoiled by people at my school. Since I know that pretty much everyone dies , I'm debating whether to continue watching.

I know, right? Everybody pressured me to watch Attack on Titan, but told me that spoiler. I was warned not to get attached to people, which is impossible because if I can't get attached to the characters, I'm not fully enjoying it. I forced myself to watch seven episodes of tears and sadness before finally caving in. There are points where I think everything is going to go fine in that anime, and then... TITANS! And Hetalia is awesome. I watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Danganronpa: The Animation last summer. They were both great, if a little on the depressing side.

What's Puella Madoka Magica about? I've heard of Danganronpa before, but not Puella Madoka Magica.

Madoka Magica is basically a deconstruction of magical girl animes. It takes the concept of magical girls and explores it in a darker manner. It's a good show.

I haven't seen the Mekaku City Actors anime, but I know the song series its based off of. Has anyone here seen that?

On a completely different topic, I found a manga called "Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee", and it's amazing. It makes mailmen look awesome.

Oh, I read an except of that in this old issue of Shonen Jump I've got lying around! I've always wanted to read the rest of it. The art is beautiful and the storyline is incredibly interesting. And you changed your profile picture to Niche! It's so cute!

I saw an episode of the anime sometime last school year, and had wanted to watch more of it, but I completely forgot about it until I saw the manga at the library while looking for Death Note. It's an amazing anime/manga.
Also Niche does not appreciate being referred to as "it". Unless you were referring to the avatar? Nope not planning a Niche cosplay anytime soon and I was totally not getting into character...

I was referring to the avatar. And Netflix has added Saint Seiya. I'm dying of happiness. SEND HELP.

Okay. I'm tapping my feet of excitement over possibly a new fandom. I can't help.

I have a feeling that this is going to turn into a Saint Seiya thread now.

As soon as I saw new posts here, I knew. I knew this thread would become a Saint Seiya discussion hub. Hooray for derailing yet another one with Lost Canvas!
On the "get Saint Seiya a fan base" front, I think I've gotten one of my friends to watch it. I wonder who they'll be, although my money's on Sagittarius Sisyphus.

I think that Kyotto might actually be Libra Dohko since we're close friends. Also I'm going to send her a link to the Lost Canvas since she seemed interested.

Yeah, I agree. We need to find a really stellar pair for Degel and Kardia anyhow. Send her the link!

I will once I'm back on the computer I'm reading it on.
How many subseries in Saint Seiya are there?

There's regular Saint Seiya, The Lost Canvas, Next Dimension, Saint Seiya Omega, and a few films. Next Dimension is basically a lot like Lost Canvas, but written and drawn by the original people who made the anime, Omega is awful, the original is alright providing you don't watch the dub, and I've never seen the films.

Is Omega the Asgard arc? You've made reference to how terrible the Asgard arc is multiple times.

No, the Asgard arc is part of the original. Omega's the sequel to the original, but the new protagonists are annoying, and all the gold saints are evil.
