Lincoln hears the low growls and feels a chill run up his spine. "We got trouble, Emmet." he mumbles lowly to himself. He bounces thoughts in his head rapidly for a moment before deciding to duck behind a stone the best he can in the little time he has left. Better safe than sorry...?

Negerine goes for a different patch of stones to take cover behind, if only so he can ambush the foe if/when a fight occurs.

Naden goes for yet another patch of stones, readying his sword as he does. The relative quietness of his run would almost be impressive if not for the fact that he then trips and knocks a few stones over, creating a fair bit of noise.

Without needing a second thought everyone makes their dives into the halfcover of the nearby stones, mostly metaphorically speaking. With bated breath and arms at hand, the Delvers await to see what form this creature takes...
With heavy plodding steps the beast charges forward from the green in a blinding flash of light, a terrifying gasping metallic skull on two legs, with massive globular eyes blood-red and wild. The monster lets loose a stomach souring groan as it lumbers as quickly as it can right towards the group! Just as the potential ambush had all but been foiled and a battle seemed inevitable, the skull opens into full view to reveal no monster at all, but another Delver.
"GRAAAAGH.... HELLO... HWEEEEEEH... FELLOW EXPLORERS... FWUOOOH... H-How goes the trek?"
Absolutely flushed red and dripping with sweat, you realize that what you had mistook for a fiend of some sort was infact the now very exhausted Protector from back at the wagon hidden underneath the two large heater shields, as well as a backpack fit to burst. Relieved, if not a little irritated for getting so worked up over nothing, everybody puts away their weapons.
"I was in a hurry, phew, to catch up with my friends you see. They're great guys but they tend to be a little on the ditzy side. I couldn't imagine what kind of trouble they'd get into if I wasn't around to watch their backs and remember who's day it is to carry the supplies. Those jokers would forget their own heads if it was possible,"
Smiling a bit at the thought of his comrades, the Protector shakes his head and takes note of the group in front of him.
"Ah yes, before you head any deeper in, I should warn you that you ought to mind the ridge snappers if you come across any. They're tough nuts to crack for new Delvers especially, with their mean bites and strong shells. I'd feel bad sending you off with just a warning though, so why don't you take something as a precaution until you get properly situated."
Hoisting the heavy backpack down, Hiro pulls out a set of items and offers the choice of one. In one hand he holds out three throwing darts, in the other four long pins.
"These darts and pins are one time use weapons you throw at enemies. If you take the darts you can inflict some decent poison to wear down its health. The pins are designed to strike nerves, locking up the target much like a bind, but it's largely a matter of chance what the effect will be. Which do you all think will be more useful?"

(Oh boy tough decision I'd say pins, because darts we'd need to use ASAP to get as much use as possible out of them, but if something ambushes the party then we'd be able to stab it with a pin to freeze it up for a moment and regain our bearings, or maybe chug a potion mid-battle with a second of time. While darts could be good against bosses, I think pins are more versatile, although being somewhat chancy.)

(I'd have to say the darts. Paralysis is good and all, but nerves are hard to hit. If we're only going to get one more pin as opposed to the darts, it's just not worth the lower hit chance.)
Also, is someone going to ask about the dragon-headed cart? I think Naden's going to ask about the dragon-headed cart.

Carefully handing over the toxic projectiles, Hiro loads up and prepares to take off. "Alright then; Take care everyone! If those darts end up working well for you be sure to ask Lady, she sells darts in other ailments as well you know."
Before the Protector parts ways Naden catches him with a last inquiry. "Dragon Headed Cart? I wouldn't know anything about that I'm afraid! But I must say... A cart with the head of a dragon would be a terrible creature indeed. I certainly wouldn't want to have a run in with anything like that if I had the chance. I'd share some wild amalgamation of my own but I really must be going. Take care Delvers!"
As the group left to forge further along the trail north, they learn that the road leads into an orchard of fruit trees. Littered all over the ground are scattered produce visually similar in appearance to apples, albeit an unusually hued one. It's unlikely that these fruits by the description the sentry gave are the Gobberries the he wanted, they could still be useful in some other manner perhaps. This line of thought is interrupted by a trio of foraging monsters. two reptilian monsters slink closer, followed by a squirrel like beast nearly as big as a child. Catching sight of Delvers instantly sends them into a rage as they close in the distance. It's a battle!

Well, I highly doubt that using Fog of War will be too effective with these monsters already closing the distance, but why not try and use it anyways? Whether that works or not, Naden will be going after Forest Monitor A.

Negerine's just going to try and Play by Ear. He doesn't particularly care who it hits as long as it's an enemy.

Lincoln is going to try and bring Emmet straight down on one of those Forest Monitors for an absolutely smashing start to his first battle as a delver.
