This update brought to you by school finals, the real-life equivalent of trading kills in a video game. The finals kill you with studying so you can kill them right back. I mean, the point is both sides are dead, so in theory the analogy should work. I just had finals, and I feel somewhat dead inside, so I assume I'm not getting anything wrong here... Also, what's with the A E S T H E T I C that just happened? To mediate the immediate trouble your party faces health-wise, Marshall claps his hands together and casts Sauna Pulse, healing everyone still on their feet for 36 HP. This brings both team and team morale back from the brink of both literal and proverbial death. Following that up, Apollo begins to spark off seemingly random bolts of electricity towards the Firemoonbeans. Unbeknownst to them, he's actually trying to bait them into attacking; the bolts are purposefully meant to be dodged, and yet still pose a threat that one would think to try and stifle. His plan works, and both remaining enemies lunge at him at the first opening. Par his plan, Apollo immediately throws down Reflectricity before they reach him, managing to catch both snakes in the barrier of lightning. This kills B instantly and stalls C in mid-air. He struggles to maintain the barrier and calls on the rest of your party to help. "Now, guys! Urgh--get 'em!!" The rest of your party kindly obliges Apollo's request. Isra reappears directly above the Firemoonbean and stabs straight down with her blade, but then discharges a huge amount of dark magic into its skull, dealing a total of 27 damage (and also dropping her own HP down to 1). Marshall casts water magic from a distance for 18 as you dash in for the finishing blow. You run under the electric field to below the snake, and then push off the ground with all your might and send the snake flying with a single, well-timed punch. It flies through the air and falls to the ground with a CRASH, staying there. This is followed up by another CRASH as Apollo releases Reflectricity and the remains of the other snake fall to the ground. VICTORY!!!After the fight Apollo immediately runs over to Amanda and starts shaking her to get up. "C'mon, Amanda! You can't just... keep... sleeping like that, it's not like you!" he says in between shakes. "Uh..." Marshall interrupts him, "You probably shouldn't be shakin' her so harsh-like. Remember, she just got thrown across a cave an' into a wall and just... lemme try somethin'." He steps over to Apollo and has him let down Amanda gently, then kneels down to her mumbles something before casting some kind of healing spell. Your entire party crowds around to watch, and in a few dozen seconds Amanda's eyes slowly open and she lets out a quiet "Ugh...". "Criminey! He brought her back from the dead!!!" Elliot screeches. "She wasn't dead!" Apollo yells back. Ignoring them, Amanda slowly gets up, only to suddenly stumble. "Careful," warns Marshall, catching her. "You got beat up pretty bad. What I did only sped up your healin' process, you still need to rest a night." "Y-yeah, thanks." Amanda replies, not making eye contact. "Let's--let's do that." ... and before you can say "Industrially Smelted Froot Loops" camp is set up exactly where the fight ended and everyone's at relative peace. Isra's helping Marshall prepare a meal, Apollo and Pyralis are chatting, and Amanda's resting in a chair with a book as to not disturb her wounds. You can't seem to find Elliot, though. What do you think you'll do now? New Items: None Persony Bits: None Battle Turn: Marshall's Sauna Pulse (36 HP restore to everyone but Amanda), Apollo's Electricity Bait (taunt to B and C), B and C's lunge attack (countered by Apollo), Apollo's Reflectricity counter (KO to B, stun to C), Isra's dark magic stab (27 to C, 29 recoil), Marshall's Water Magic attack (18 to C), Ace's finishing blow (KO to C), victory!! Recent: Apollo tries to wake Amanda, Marshall takes over and succeeds, Elliot freaks out, Apollo freaks out less, Amanda's still injured, camp set-up, Isra's with Marshall, Apollo's with Pyralis, Amanda's with a book, Elliot can't be found

This update brought to you by promotion of the CYOA in other forms of media. Like THIS for example. Click it, you won't regret it, most likely. You attempt to shot Elliot's name through a megaphone. However, since there are no megaphones in the immediate vicinity, you go with the second-best option: screaming. "ELLIOT!!!"... There's no response. At least not from the person you're looking for; the rest of your party casts shaming glances at you before resuming their activities. "That's potentially undesirable. What if something happened to him? I mean, we still have Pyralis to guide us to the peak, but Elliot's the only one who knows how to operate the machines keeping our camp functional. You'd best look for him."You tell Min that you could've figured that out yourself (probably), and begin scanning the area around camp with her help. Your search takes you a distance away from camp, but you soon find Elliot, sitting on a lone rock, mumbling to himself. He doesn't notice you, so you start sneaking closer to possibly eavesdrop on his internal monologue from behind a rock. "Why am I helping them, still? Could they be trying to escape by doing what they said? Why do I not want them to escape?--AUGH!!!" Just as you start to listen he yells and clutches his head, seemingly in pain. He seethes through his teeth for a moment before leveling out. "... I shouldn't think too much into it. I have to find one of those crystals before my head hurts more..." He begins to stand up, and you hightail it back to camp before he can catch a glimpse of you. You feel like you just witnessed something you shouldn't have; why is Elliot concerned with you escaping? Why does he think finding one of those crystals will soothe his mind? You can guess the latter from personal experience, but get the feeling that you don't really want to know the former... -- Back at camp, everyone is still at their respective activities. It should be a while before Elliot returns, hopefully, though it's up to you whether you'll do anything with that time. Speaking of doing things, what do you do? New Items: None Persony Bits: None Recent: Searched for Elliot, found Elliot, eavesdropped on Elliot, Elliot doesn't want your crew to escape the caves but literally nobody knows why (including him)

This update brought to you by cultish church-schools, where you can get 100% assignment credit and still fail the class! And before anyone asks, no, I don't go to one. You decide to report your newfound knowledge to someone in camp. Naturally, since it's likely nobody wants to hear what you've found out, you choose Marshall. You approach Marshall, of whom is just finishing meal preparations with Isra. You tap his shoulder, garnering you both his and Isra's attentions. He looks at you, sees the glint in your eyes, and immediately tenses up. "Aw heck... what did you do now?" You scold him for holding you to such a low standard, and then tell him everything you saw. He grimaces and responds in turn. "Well darn. I always knew that fella was a few beads short, but this seems like somethin' else entirely..." "But Elliot only seems concerned with us escaping," Isra interjects, "as long as we can keep him convinced that we are not trying to escape we should not have any issues." "You seem to hold him at a pretty low standard there..." Isra shrugs. "Like you said, he is a few beads short... whatever that is supposed to mean." "It means that he--oh no, I see what you're tryin' to do there. Besides, since we met him he's never been out of earshot until just now." "And your point is?" "See, we all figured he didn't want us to 'escape', but considerin' what I said this must be the first time he's associatin' our escape with gettin' to the peak! Meanin' things can only go downhill from here..." Isra's eyes seem to flash in recognition. "I suppose. Elliot does not seem like the type to think quietly to himself... at least not without him saying the words in some way or another." "See? This ain't very pleasant news. Now Ace," he looks to you, "what do you think we should do about it?" Well? What will yo do about it? It also seems Elliot isn't back yet... if that changes anything.
New Items: None Persony Bits: None Recent: Told Marshall and Isra of findings, Elliot is apparently only just making connections between your goal and your potential escape, both of which should not be mixed in his mind.

This update brought to you by Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. You suggest killing Elliot. Both Marshall and Isra eye you for a second before replying. "You think we should...? Ah... ahahaha... Isra help me out here!" "What? Do you NOT think Ace is trying to make a joke?" "Well now that you mention..." "So do not just stare! Make it seem like you found it funny!" "Right. Uh... Aha... AHAHAHAHAha-HA! Haha... ha? Isra I think he's serious." "It does seem that way..." Both of them now stare at you, as if doing so will somehow make you rescind your request. Isra finally moves. "Well then, I shall go fetch my blade. After dinner we can lure Elliot out of hearing and sight, where we can end him." She leaves and starts walking to her tent. Marshall looks after her and then gives you a worried sideways glance. "I mean... I guess. Tell everyone that dinner might be a little later today..." He goes back to cooking, mumbling to himself. Elliot still isn't back at camp yet, and everyone's still at whatever what they were doing before, blissfully unaware of your malicious plan. "Ruby... are you sure you really want to do this?" You wonder the same to yourself. What do you do now?
New Items: None Persony Bits: None Recent: Decided to kill Elliot; only Isra and Marshall know about this plan. You still have time to change it.

This update brought to you by ME, all in a sudden attempt to make up for lost time. SURPRISE! Something snaps in your head. It's unclear if it snapped in or out of place, but you suddenly re-decide to not kill Elliot. In an attempt to modify the situation, you shout "APRIL FOOLS!!!" into the air. Nothing happens. Now you start to sweat nervously. VERY nervously. "What was that about?" you hear Marshall query. You turn to him and explain your change of plan. "I see... well thank the star's for that. So then what's it we do now?" Before you can answer, Min alerts you, "Elliot's presence at now-o'clock!" You note that you don't have a watch on you, but then look up 2 inches and past Marshall to see a familiar figure heading towards you. It's Elliot. "Hey, fellas! Sorry I wandered off." He says nothing further, and slides up next to Marshall. "So dinner in a minute? Man, you sure cook slowly. I can't wait!" He then wanders off, and catches Isra as she leaves her tent and begins talking to her. You can't quite make out what they're saying, but both seem very engaged in the conversation. "It's real spooky how Isra can put up such a front seein' as she doesn't know about the change of plans..." notes Marshall. "Maybe we should up tell her about that?" "With Elliot right there? Fat chance of that. We'll have to wait until after-dinner, lest risk shaking his trust even more." "Why do you say wait 'til then?" "Call it a hunch, dear Marshy." --and sure enough, Min's hunch turns true. Elliot's chat with Isra persists minute upon minute until Marshall reluctantly announces the meal to be ready. Prior to everyone gathering, you notice Isra had seemingly been keeping the chat going. "Perhaps to try and butter up his trust?"
--
Tension aside, dinner starts off smoothly. Attention is largely centered on Pyralis, of whom is devouring plate upon plate of food. Everyone is shocked, sure, but Elliot is more intrigued by her behavior. When she finally stops he asks her, "You ate... food. In all my time here, I always thought Fire People like you didn't need to eat." Pyralis is hesitant to answer. "W-well... I was h-hungry..." "Yeah, I noticed. Well, next time save more for us." Silence passes. "I... think I'm full..." Amanda says with a tired look, and pushes her plate away. It's barely half eaten. Elliot happily takes it. A minute later, when everyone is finishing their meals, Isra turns to Elliot and speaks. "Elliot, do you remember the area that I mentioned that I found earlier?" she glances to you and Marshall. "Oh yeah, the one with all those crystals, right? Can we go there now?" "Absolutely. Oh! We should bring Marshall and Ace as well, they will be able to help us bring more crystals back, seeing as you need your collector's gear to stay at camp." she glances at you two again. "Yeah... I remember you saying that. Okay, lead the way!" he stands up. "Uh..." Marshall interrupts. "Actually, I went down to that area already, there's nothing there." he makes some kind of face towards Isra, seemingly to try and convey the change of plan to her. She doesn't get the message, however. "Actually, Marshall, I know what I saw. We would appreciate your help if you are willing." She flashes a small smile. "However, we can collect a sizable amount without your assistance. Come on, Elliot, we need to get this done before too long. The crystals are this way..." Both of them hurry off at speed before a rebuttal can be made. Marshall, looks at you, and you back, silently agreeing. You both get up and quickly pursue them to prevent your former plan from coming to gruesome fruition. As you leave you hear Apollo ask "What just happened?".
--
You eventually catch up to Isra and Elliot, in a sizable clearing that curves down into a bowl shape on all sides. Both are talking, you infer Elliot's asking about the alleged crystals, and Isra's stalling for time until you arrive. She catches sight of you, and you see a glint in her eye that she's ready to do the job that she thinks you've still agreed on. But you've not agreed on the job, it seems, and perhaps want to stop this from happening as effectively as possible. Either way, how do you act now?

This update brought to you by blah-blah-blah I'm late let's just get into it. Before any harm can befall Elliot you run in between him and Isra, turn to the latter, and begin to flail your arms and shake your head aggressively. Isra quickly gets the message and nods in approval. Marshall soon slides down the hill and joins you. The immediate crisis averted, now you have Elliot to deal with. "Why are you swinging your arms around like that?? Where are the crystals???" He glares at you as you fumble to respond until Marshall cuts in. "I tried to, uh... tell you that there weren't any crystals here. We were... uh... mistaken to think such." he says through a thick nervous sweat. "Yes, Marshall is right. Now we should head back to camp, shouldn't we?" Isra adds coolly, although a bit late. While any sane person would be able to see straight through your lies, you're pretty sure Elliot doesn't qualify as one, as thusly he easily believes your made-up excuse. "Well then next time check twice before telling me you found a stash of the darn things!" he stomps off towards camp. You just sigh and follow him. "Well that could've gone smoother. I predict he's not going to trust us for much longer, you'd best get a move on come next morning."
--
... and now you're back at camp once again. Everyone's already cleaned up dinner; now they've just been waiting for you to get back. That's nice of them. "It was Apollo's idea." tells Amanda. "Pyralis was tired and went to sleep, but he was worried something would happen to the four of you, se he convinced me to wait with him. Back so soon?" "We had some... misunderstanding." Isra lies. "That's fine. We were ready to wait as long as it'd take. I..." she makes sure Elliot isn't present. "I see you didn't find any of those crystals?" "Yes, it turns out Marshall was correct in his observation. There were no crystals at the spot I had seen." "Uh-huh." She asks no further questions. "Well then, I guess I'll get to bed. See you in the morning." "Me... me too." Apollo stammers. And with that, they all get up and walk to their respective tents. "Amanda seems to be in better shape. Looks like my healin' spell did the trick..." Marshall comments. "Now... are we just not goin' to talk about all this ever again?" "I would like that." Isra admits. "I got a bit ahead of myself, and it pains me to say so." "Yeah... what was with that? Last I heard you said you were tryin' to leave your past as a thief behind you?" "Well Marshall, if you must know, I think it to be foolish to not use the tools at one's disposal to get the job done. This time I happened to have the wrong job in mind and I can acknowledge my own mistakes very well so THANK YOU." And with that Isra glides away and into her tent, leaving Marshall just a bit stunned. "I... wasn't sayin' anythin' about your mistakes! Crazy kid..." he sulks off to his own tent. With nobody else to talk to you decide to get some shut-eye as well.
--
Something stirring outside your tent wakes you from your sleep. You hesitate to make any noises, lest it be hostile. You can't quite judge the distance from it to your own tent, either. Judging by the fact that you don't hear anyone else moving about, it must be the middle of the night as well. So, with that sudden list of conditions to your predicament, what will you decide to do?

This update brought to you by Glomgold Industries, where the greatest treasure is treasure. I mean, that's why it's called treasure. You attempt to poke your head inconspicuously out of your tent. However, the sound of the door opening is quite loud, alerting whatever presence that was there. You sense its eyes flick towards you and see you, and before you can say anything you hear its footsteps running away from camp. You curse yourself for not being more subtle. "Well, to be fair, you wouldn't've been able to see anything in this dark and fixing that issue would've given you away as well. Now you're likely inclined to chase after whatever that was. My analysis concludes that tonight is just not your night." You grumble and follow Min's prediction, figuring that what or whoever that was, it couldn't have gotten too far... probably. Min illuminates the tunnel for you and thusly the chase begins. You get a strange sense of deja vu as you start to run...
Eventually you stop, sensing whoever you were following just ahead. You steal a glance at them from behind and manage to identify them as Pyralis, although she's occupied enough to not notice you. You use the chance to peer from the side and notice that she's hunched over and clutching one of those orange crystals, breathing heavily. Then she notices you, and her head suddenly turns in your direction. You immediately notice it's less colorless than previously, with the sick-looking orange veins having diminished. Upon seeing you she becomes startled and drops the crystal she was holding, of which you now notice is smaller than when you first glanced at it. For a moment, you both stand in silence, Pyralis's eyes frequently flicking away from yours to the object.
What do you do with this situation?

This update brought to you by those cereal boxes with toys inside. Not the cereal, just the boxes. Let that sink in for a sec before you start reading... You casually straighten yourself up and say to Pyralis "Why hello fellow person! If you don't mind my asking, what do you happen to be doing on this fine day today?". As you finish you roll your hand forward to invite a response. You get no immediate response. Instead Pyralis just stares at you in a manner comparable to one watching someone who has just decided glue a spoon to their ear. How rude. You decide to ask again. "Why hello fellow person! If you don't mind my asking again, what do you happen to be doing on this fine day today?" you roll your hand forward again. Pyralis pauses and then says "Nothing...?" A response! An odd detail of it, though, is that her voice has lost its crackling, airy quality that it had before. Not that the response in itself is adequate enough for you. Unless it is. Nevertheless you cast a pressing glance at her to see if you can wean any more information. "I... uh... was... just... studying that rock." Her eyes flick down to the crystal again. Unconvinced, you raise an eyebrow and cross your arms. "So... you can go back to your camp now..." She smiles pleadingly. "... please?" She begins to shift on her feet. You squint suspiciously. After a short silence, Pyralis finally sighs and closes her eyes. "...Alright..." she says. She opens one eye, looks at you, and then closes her eyes and sighs again, louder this time. "ALRIGHT. So I wasn't actually studying that rock... I was, uh, eating it, I think." She then stops and makes a face like she's analyzing what she just said. "I've... never had to try and explain this to anyone before. So, uh, I've kind of... been... stuck in these caves for a long time. Like, really long, and, uh..." She makes another face. "Look, I'd like to just do this by myself. I should be fine if you just--uh..." Suddenly she stumbles and clutches her head. "Gah... not... ugh... " She shakes her hear as if to clear it. "Just... leave me alone for a bit, please?" There's obviously something she's not telling you. What do you do?

This update brought to you by whatever company makes laser swords. (I know they're out there, and I hope by mentioning them they'll give me free stuff) In response to Pyralis's plea, you nod your head and take two steps back, signaling that you won't press her issue any further for the time being. Instead you vow to reach the bottom of this issue at a later date, perhaps when she can more easily talk about it. "... oh. Oh! Um... thanks..." She trails off and doesn't say anything else. Instead of waiting for her to add anything, you leave her where she is and head back to camp. Once you get there you head straight to your tent and fall back asleep the moment you get inside.
--
Morning time. You wake to the sound of Elliot's voice, yelling at your camp to wake up. Lazily, you oblige him, and the morning routine begins. It goes as normally as it can, being inside a cave and all, but a moment into breakfast Apollo turns to Amanda and asks "Hey, where's Pyralis?". Amanda, of whom had been sipping a glass of water, goes wide-eyed and resists the urge to spit her drink back out. "You let her rest in your tent, right?" Apollo presses on, "Is she still asleep or something?" All eyes move to Amanda, she gulps down and coughs. "I... don't recall seeing her this morning." Apollo gasps and everyone else mutters similar statements about how they haven't seen Pyralis either. You do a fast scan around camp as well; she definitely isn't here. That's troubling. On that note, you interrupt the conversation and tell everyone what happened last night. Upon finishing your story Apollo says "Well shouldn't we go find her? She really should've gotten back by NOW..." Everyone looks at you for a response. What do you do now?

This update brought to you in a government-issued package airdropped to you whilst you thought you were on vacation... You propose that everyone should split up and search for clues as to where Pyralis went, but Apollo is quick to point out that you saw specifically where she went and that they could just follow you. You tell him that that's preposterous and begin to argue your case, yet the scene quickly segues and you somehow find yourself retracing the path with Apollo at your heels while the rest of your party stays at camp to pack up before heading out. "Once you find Pyralis, of course." Marshall had said.
With Min's help, retracing the path is a cinch, and before you can say "Eggo Waffles en Flambé" you're back at the spot where Pyralis was. You manage to find her a bit further on, curled up in a ball on the ground. At first you think her to be asleep, but as you approach she suddenly bolts upright with panicked eyes. She soon recognizes you and Apollo and drops her guard, though. You notice that her skin has gone pale and orange-veined again. "H-hello." She breaths. Her voice has also regained the crackling, airy quality that it had before. "... did I-I sleep i-in?" She makes a slight attempt at a joke, but her body language gives her away. She sways as if lightheaded, and her eyes look like they've been squeezed shut for an unhealthy amount of time. "Pyralis... are you okay?" Apollo asks. He walks over and offers his shoulder to Pyralis, who takes it. Despite her state, she insists that she's fine as your trio walks back to rejoin your party, and the two of you can't get her to say anything. When you get back to camp, she doesn't say anything either.
In fact, Pyralis doesn't say anything at all for the rest of the day. She just goes "Mmm" in various tones of "yes" or "no" depending on the situation. Either your group doesn't have the heart to pry, or they're really bad at it. Thusly goes your uneventful day of trekking.
However, a bit before you think you'll be setting up camp, you see a bright light in the distance. As you approach it, you realize that the light is in the form of a... large... neon... sign. The sign reads "Pwaaluigi's SHOP". You walk up to it, and then up to a counter where a familiar-faced pale-colored purple-hat-wearing lump-thing looks up and greets you. "Friends! The time has been large, but Pwaaluigi has not witnessed you for it!" "Pwaaluigi??" Amanda gawks. "How did YOU get in here?" "Same as ever, Pwaaluigi walked." "Yeah, but--" "Stop with the questioning, come, sit, have some of the tea, and buy something." "But, but, but..." she waves her arms around, seemingly trying to say something. "Just let it go, Amanda." Marshall warns. "I... it... he HAS to be putting something into his tea or something..." You ignore them and begin to browse Pwaaluigi's wares. 15900 Pwaants

The Flux Gun looks pretty cool, get that.
I can't tell if the Gobbery Extract is a one-time use or if it's always active. If the latter, then get it. If it's the former grab dat Convincing Excuse.

This update brought to you by whoever decided to weaponize toothbrushes into a set of dual guns. You flick your hand and point confidently at the Flux Gun and say "I'll take THAT!". "Spledinidid! Friend can set his money on the counter and Pwaaluigi will take it."You do as Pwaaluigi asks and pour out a pile of coins in front of him. Once you're finished he waves his hat over the cash and it seemingly disappears. He then hops over to the Flux Gun, picks it up, and gives it to you. You then give it to Marshall, but then Amanda walks over to him and starts poking the weapon... for some reason. "Uh... Amanda? Why are you doin' that?" "I need to make sure this thing is real. How can we be sure it's not some tea-induced hallucination?" "... Amanda, are you feelin' alright? I mean if you need to rest again..." "Oh no I'm just peachy..." "... okay." In the midst of their interaction, you also pick out a Convincing Excuse and give it to Isra to hold. -13000 Pwaants overallThen Pwaaluigi calls Marshall and her over to the counter. "Hoy! Gun friend and Theifer! Pwaaluigi cannot aid the fact that he notices friends are seeming to have another weapon or piece of gear on their selves already. Pwaaluigi is assuming that since friends have purchased new ones they must be doing the replacing, no? Pwaaluigi could take friends' old equipment off their hands for them. But only for a price... that Pwaaluigi will give back to friends! How sounds that? Pwaaluigi will give you list now."He rummages around below his counter before coming up with a rather sizable paper scroll, of which he unfurls and lays out for your group. ~Tradable Equipment~- Fire Band - 40000 Pwt (equipped to Ace) - Triples bonus damage and adds 4 extra when using Eagle Punch and prevents recoil.
