You almost forgot! Now that you have three party members, you can preform a deadly and powerful technique: the Chain Soul. This technique creates a temporary link between three souls to deal large amounts of damage using skills your allies know. Knowing this, you activate the technique, and begin the attack.
Sapph: Gale Slash
Ruby: Sonic Storm
Alle: Swamp Wave
First Time's Free: Sapph: Butterfly Claw
Vision Warning: Ruby: Thunderbolt
Time seems to stop. The three of you draw in close to Potatoast and get ready to lay down the heat. First, you Gale Slash her, making her bleed for some extra time on that status. You then move out of the way for Ruby's special attack: the Sonic Storm. Using her Speed Shoes, she creates a sort of Double Team effect, and fires off many shots in one go, all of them hitting their mark. Ruby's pride and joy out of the chain, Alle charges his pistol with some sort of water, unleashing it in a single shot, soaking Potatoast but doing little damage. However, you should be able to finish her off with the standard Blader Claw secret technique: Butterfly Claw. You get off a series of five powerful slashes on Potatoast, taking advantage of her bleeding to deal even more damage and resulting in many critical slashes. She almost looks down, but Ruby's got one last trick up her sleeve: she charges her pistol with magic and fires off a single bullet charged with Lightning. Dealing even more damage thanks to Alle's Swamp Wave, Potatoast is almost down--but sadly your Chain Soul couldn't get her down enough. The technique ends, everyone feeling a bit exhausted. The Vision Timer runs out, though, and you barely manage to move your allies out of harm's way before you try to take the blow yourself...
The vortex...the suction...all of it coming true, only to a different target. You close your eyes...
A sound of thunder.
"Sapph! Now!"
Reactions:
>Alle: Shot>Vortex
>Sapphire: Back Slash
You know what you must do.
You use the momentum given by the now-broken vortex to fly over Potatoast's head, just enough to land behind her and land a final blow...
"...y-you..." Potatoast murmurs. "...you're too strong for me at this moment, then...I see..."
"So do you give up?" Ruby asks. "We've got you pretty cornered at the moment."
"Perhaps so..." she says. "However...it's not that easy to trap a Mage!"
Potatoast lets out a burst of magic, obviously a desperation attack. You're too close in range to dodge, and you become slightly paralyzed as a result. Your teammates also seem worse for wear...
"You haven't seen the last of me...you haven't seen the last of Lanira Hikire!" Lanira, as she calls herself now, throws down some sort of bomb, and vanishes. However, it seems she left something pretty important behind...
"Th-there it is...!" Alle manages to say. "Th-that's the...Starlight Fantasy, isn't...it?"
You get unparalyzed first and help your friends become mobile before you grab the Star. Well, actually, Ruby tried it first, but the star seemed to...dodge her hand. Alle made an attempt too, to no avail. Figuring you have little else to lose...you reach out and touch the Star.
Chapter 1 complete!
The Lost Dream
Skill learnt: Starlight I
A spell thought to be lost to the worlds. While it is powerful and nothing resists it, it does take a while to internalize enough magic to use it, even for masterful Mages. Often channeled into a non-elemental weapon of any Class Usage.
Ruby's Journal:
Turns out the trouble with Dreamrealm's Starlight is extending to the rest of Legedaria. Sapphire showed up one day due to her--our world, Oralce, losing the Starlight Arcana. If she and that shovel guy were taken out trying to protect it, that obviously means something big is going on. We've decided we'll visit Oralce next to try and find its Starlight. Hopefully, the other worlds are at least relatively safe from this threat.
We met an ally in the Dreamrealms. We call him Alle, and he'll be helping us out on this journey. He's a Ranger, like me, but his pistol's capable of a lot more...I'm jealous. Just before we finished up in the Dreamrealm though, we met a lizardlike Mage named...Lanira, I believe. She gave us some trouble in getting to the Starlight, but after a quick battle Sapphire was able to place the Star back in the Altar, safe and sound. Probably her guardian's occupation working with her, because I'm fairly sure only the Starlight's guardians can touch it outside of its Altar.
Accessible Areas: Weapons Shop, Teleport Ring (Oralce), Tavern, Teleport Ring (Outrealm Order)
*About the Outrealm Order*
If you're feeling unconfident about the next area, you can hire a temporary ally or fight them to obtain their aid for the rest of your adventure. You can also buy some of the items they have on hand, but as per Outrealm Rules, they can't take the items you didn't buy with them.
Party: Sapphire (B)(Prot.), Ruby (R)(Part.), Alle (R)
Party Preview: ???: An Oralcean Mage who considers themselves an artist.
