So yesterday and today, I started writing poems based on some of my characters. I thought I'd share them here and make this thread so that if people want, they can start creating and sharing poems based on their own characters, as well as get inspiration from mine. I'll be posting a lot on this thread probably please don't make me be the only poster guys
I'm bad at intros, so without further ado, the poems!
The Unprepared
She took the oath because she had to
It was the only way to fix her predecessor’s mistakes
Atrocities committed in the name
Of utmost perfection.
She tried to quell the storm of outrage
By those who were too young to understand their crimes
Or others, who even thought her predecessor had been right.
Spending time away was tempting
But she had to fix it.
The fear of death that
Here was called perfection.
She received a letter three months in
From a Commander far across the ocean.
In helping them, she gained what she never had
A family, who, though found,
Saw her for herself
Not a failed shadow of perfection.
Her predecessor made a move
Terrified, she fled far across the ocean.
Her family received her with open arms
And the girl she’d grown up with and now begun to love
Followed, narrowly escaping death.
She only hoped that somehow, it would vanish.
The deadly specter named perfection.
The Twins
The sisters are twelve.
They arrived by sunset
Welcomed to their new home by
A surrogate brother who would
Fight the stars in their names
And an activist mentor
Who taught them all they needed to survive.
The sisters are thirty.
One, more frail in body and yet not heart,
Has become the Commander.
Training two boys more different than alike
Who remain best friends despite it all.
The other, her deputy, a scientist
Who can bend the laws of nature slightly
Through electricity and circuits.
She trains three apprentices
Who have no one else to call family.
The sisters are thirty-six.
The scientist has disappeared, leaving behind
A grieving Commander, and an adopted brother
Who wishes he could have somehow
Demolished this situation with his words
Before he knew it began.
The three apprentices grieve in their own ways
For the adopted mother they lost
As night falls and the scientist is proclaimed dead.
The sister is forty-two.
She asks for advice in the night
To someone who cannot hear
And yet…
She knows what the answer would be
As if her twin was standing beside her.
Smiling through her tears, she bids her deputy goodnight.
The sister is fourty-four.
An unexpected return
Ends the eight years’ grief.
And they are reunited at last.
