I can indeed confirm that it's "rather intriguing" as Lazuli claims. From what I know at the given moment, Alice Isn't Dead is in fact it's own thing, separate from the friendly desert town of Night Vale and the stories there. It's a more story oriented podcast rather than a community news station, being more akin to a radio drama, and the whole thing takes a somewhat darker turn than Welcome to Night Vale.
At least, that's what I gathered when I listened to the first episode a while back.
