I wasn't sure whether to make a new topic for this but there you go.
The Final Smash Bros. Direct premieres on December 15th at 2:00 PT (or 5:00 ET). This thread is for discussing what you hope will be in the direct and what was in the direct after it premieres.

I fully expect Cloud to be basically Ike with Little Mac style power ups, the limit break looks too much like a build up meter to sway that impression.
That aside they have to release the character ballot as well, We'll probably get the last batch of DLC out the door to charge us for Mii costumes and stages. We'll have to see how the show pans out for any surprises.

For those who didn't see it. Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates and Bayonetta are going to be in Smash. Also, Bayonetta was the Smash Ballot character.
You may now discuss.

After that direct I can say with certainty that I'm not interested in plunging any more cash into smash. And 97-9 mii costumes is the nothing to be proud off.
All said and done I guess the direct was all right. I'm miffed a bit with the new additions and ever expanding list of counters and swords, but its not worth getting worked up about since after Ryu I was pretty tapped about spending more dosh on the game.
What IS though is the fact Sakurai spoiled a major plot point for the game we haven't even gotten yet over here. Fire Emblem: Rawrgh Imma Dragon comes out next year everywhere else. I've also heard some pessimists here and there conflating the inclusion to pay for advertisement, but in the end of the day it is a pretty neat fighter with an obscene range game; top tier tippers Marth go home.

Well I had already known he was a manakete but whatever. To be honest, I'd really mind Corrin. At least he's not another Marth clone.

Fire Emblem: Rawrgh Imma Dragon I'm laughing so hard right now. Also his/her jab looks so cool

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with how the fighters have been going recently. They seem to be getting bolder, by which I mean, they aren't just the standard "specials and normal attacks" formula anymore. You've got Little Mac's power meter and Cloud's limit, Ryu's combos to power up attacks, and now Bayonetta's continuous fire and combo attacks. Oh, and Corrin sticking his hand into the ground.
I'm pretty psyched about Bayonetta. She looks like she'll be fun to play.

Almost all of the newcomers usually have a gimmick to set them apart.
(Hooray for sentence-long posts)

...I never actually watched the direct. Apparently this is the last set of smash dlc, but what about the samsh ballot? Was that taken care of? Did they say anything? (I'm aware there would be no way for them to have the ballot character finished at this point tho.)
I was stoked to see bayonetta in, but was a bit disappointed to see that we get ANOTHER FIRE EMBLEM CHARACTER YAAAAY. Sure, she has an interesting moveset, but it's getting to the point where fire emblem is catching up to mario characters in terms of spots on the roster. (Does not count DK, other DK, and Wario)
It's like smash parilament, it's just a big race for seats.

Bayonetta WAS the Smash Ballot character. She was number one in Europe and in America's top five, so she was at the top worldwide.

Some interesting details arose from newsources, trivial enough but perfect for stoking those flames of fandom rage.
First off is that even to Sakurai adding Corrin felt like too many Fire Emblem Reps, but ultimately decided to add in due to being from a recent/upcoming game and coming up with a fun character moveset.
Additional details in what is hopefully a gaff in translation, but Bayonetta was stated to have gotten almost 2 million votes in the ballot, yet it seems that after all was said and done in removing obvious attempts at ballot stuffings and any votes that'd be a mess for copyright licensing to obtain, there was about 1.8 million votes globally. This has obviously lead to various smash circles crying foul as the discrepancy confounds.
