Long ago, two races ruled over earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS. One day, war broke out between the two races. After a long battle, the humans were victorious. They sealed the monsters underground with a magic spell.
Many years later...
Mt. Ebott 21xx
Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return. One group took that as a challenge.
So, with that out of the way, welcome to the Quest for Derailment! The story of this is that I started a silly Undertale roleplaying campaign with my cousins and brother the other day, and told some people the story over Skype. Xeno immediately wanted to have me run a version of it on #kun, so here it is. It'll probably a little faster at updating than Determination, since A, it's a roleplay rather than CYOA, and B, because I'm more or less running the same plot as the game. Initially, that is.Do Try and keep these people fairly normal, would you? Character Reference: Stats are handled a little differently. Each stat begins at 0, but on character creation you have one point to place into a stat, and can lower stats by -1 or -2 to raise other stats up to a cap of +2.The stat number is the bonus you get on specific rolls, and as you level up later you'll get the opportunity to raise them further. Other than that, there's not really much else to say besides that combat will be played like Delvers of the Hidden Forest rather than the Roleplay style of the rest. Obviously, this is called The Quest for Derailment, so feel free to do whatever you want as long as it's within reason, and we'll see what fresh madness we brew. Lenrap's CharacterCharacter Sheet Name: Kim Gender: Female Age: 9 Soul: Justice Description: Yellow and white striped shirt with a ponytail, Kim is heavily inspired by superheros. Name: Milan Bread Gender: Male Age: 14 Soul: Kindness Description: Known as the biggest toughest sixth grader around his school, Milan amassed a band of rowdy hooligans and delinquents, running the school yard as from the shadows of behind that one dumpster where all the stuff that'll get confiscated gets used. Having spent 4 grades training in looking intimidating, shaking down kids for milk money, and running underground trading card rings, Milan would look to have a bright future in the darkness. However he is also a suprisingly honest worker with a compelling heart to look out for his friends. He is a father to his wayward men, and is a staunch practicer of the "Going gets tough" mantra when it comes to holding up his end of a promise, even at cost to himself.

Mt. Ebott 21xxLegends say that those who climb the mountain never return... But if someone could, wouldn't they become a hero? And if they wanted to disappear, is there any better place? These are the kinds of thoughts that bring people to Mt. Ebott. The story of this trip? That's something only the heroes of it could know. Fate has a funny way of keeping some things at a constant. One such constant is that people are hardly ever truly prepared for a trip to Mt. Ebott, usually with only basic supplies. A spare frypan, a play hat, a toy knife. In this case, a set of packed lunches. Another constant is that few people who fall through the Barrier intend to make the drop. A well placed vine, an inconvenient rock, shifting earth.. The group woke up in a heap atop a bed of flowers. The cavern they fell into was dark, the only light coming from the hole they fell through high above. Pillars sit just on the edge of the darkness, and a faint stone path, well won from possible centuries of use, stretches ahead into the darkness along the cavern to where the outline of a door might be made out against the cavern wall. The room was silent, almost expecting, as though the mountain itself was anticipating adventures to come. Party Info ~~Party Inventory [5/25, 0G]~~ Packed Lunch x5 *Heals 8HP

Groooooaaann...
Swinging himself up off the ground with a cantankerous growl, Milan found himself first to rise after a rather wanton plunge had dropped him and the group deep below. "Damn rat with wings." He cursed skyward while checking his head for damage. "You better be glad I'm down here now because that's the Last time that's happening ya hear?!"
Suprisingly though, for falling a couple hundred feet south Milan found he was no worse for wear save for smelling like his gram-gram's flower shop, which normally would be a fate worse than death but given the circumstances was not really the most pressing issue right now. What were these anyways, Buttercups? Whatever...
"Alright you guys; I want to see everyone who doesn't got their brains leaking out from the fall off the ground pronto. Somebody needs to climb out of this cave and get help and preferably it'd be the guys with the least broken bones. Who's still alive?"

"Hngh..."
Grunting, Marleen stretched her arms, yawning. She only half-listened to Milan's rant as her squinted eyes gazed upwards, at the light that shone from above into the deep, dark and humid pit the little group found themselves in inside the Underground. It was somewhat... beautiful, in fact. The sunlight shining through the rock formations, reflecting on the little droplets of water. It would only be better without the boy's nagging and the... flowers...?
"Atchoo!"
Marleen rose to her feet, sneezing, and walked away from the flowerbed. Whatever it was the group had landed in, her nose didn't like it. She dusted the polen off her clothes and opened her eyes fully. "Whoa... where are we?"

Wayne was third to stand up. Or at least, try to stand up. The moment he did so, he felt a rather unfortunate pain in his ankle, forcing him to fall back onto the bed of beautiful flowers. He remarks, "Well, that's great. I think I sprained my ankle or something... Honestly, I'm surprised that fall didn't kill me, but whatever..." The child looks up, towards the ceiling. He squints into the sunlight, noticing that the opening seems to stretch very far into the sky. He looks over at Milan, and remarks, "Yeah... Good luck with that. That shaft is extremely tall. I seriously doubt any of us are going to make it up there."

Propping themself up on their arms, Yumi carefully inspected themselves for any injuries. From what they could tell, the worst injury they'd sustained was a few scrapes. Admittedly, the scrapes were deeper than they'd have hoped, but they weren't bleeding too much. Blinking to adjust to the dim light, they stood up and looked around, preferring to let others discuss while they tried to sort out their half-faded memories.

Ryon grumbled as he was subject to the soundwaves of one cantankerous Milan Bread, stretching his arms out whilst still sprawled out on the flower bed.
"...Mmmph. Gimme five more minutes..."
He felt like...maybe he was injured. His head was certainly pounding, and his left arm and leg felt...sprained. Certainly, one of the others could...maybe check for him. If it was, like...really bad. He shifted his position to flop down on his stomache, hoping maybe that would ease him into his rest. Sleep heals all wounds, after all.
...Nope. Didn't feel like he'd get back to sleep anytime soon. But he did feel like laying down just a bit longer, at least to examine the odd flowers the group fell upon. Such a...simple-looking breed of Flora, not that he was an expert on the field...

Thankfully it seems everybody survived the fall without much damage, save for Ryon who hopefully isn't nursing potential concussion. Survived however isn't saying much if the only other person who could easily get up off the ground is the snot rocket with the bloodshot eyes. Milan's first thought to climbing the rock wall had involved using the Flower bed as a cushion if he fell, but he couldn't very well go kicking up pollen with Marleen's apparent allergies being a factor as well. It seemed like the only option was to hope the group fell in a tunnel rather than a pit.
"You have a point there Wayne." Milan conceded to the facts. "Even if somebody did manage to make it up there the shape you guys are in anyhow it'd be smarter not to split up... Speaking of which, I think I have something that should help with that foot."
Unzipping his hoodie, Milan face had a look of relief reaching into his inner pocket to pull out a roll of old bandaging. It looked like it had come out of the nurses room if one had to guess, which knowing the guy... Was probably not that far from the truth. "I tend to carry this junk around in case a game of Bloody Knuckles starts during a lull, but they'll do the job taking care of everyone's injuries."
Milan passes the ball of wrappings to the group to take as much as they need for their arms or legs. "So, being that going back up the way we came isn't gonna work, what ideas do you guys have? I didn't pack lunch for long term so unless we miraculously stumbled onto big rock candy mountain getting out of here is gonna be a big issue."

Wayne takes the bandage and applies it to his horribly injured foot. While it doesn't completely heal it, it at least allows him to walk on it for longer than 3 seconds at a time. He remarks, "Thanks for that. If we're going to get out of here, any medical supplies would certainly be helpful." Wayne looked ahead, deeper into the cave. There seemed to be a path forward, but it was somewhat hard to see much farther ahead than the clearing. Wayne continued, "Since climbing upwards definitely isn't an option, forward is probably the only way we can go..."

Sniffing, Marleen looked around the bottom of the pit they were in. And, sure enough, her backpack was there, having fallen against a rock. She picked up the backpack and rummaged through its contents, before retrieving a few homemade sandwiches that were wrapped in plastic, messy and a bit smashed from the fall. "Uhm, if it helps, I've got some food here... it's not exactly a hors d'ouevre, but it should be enough for now..." She held them out for anyone who wished to have a bite, keeping a fair distance from the other teenagers and the sneeze-inducing flower bed. "And going forward sounds like the best... we're only going to sprain more ankles if we try to climb out of here. I don't want anyone else to be hurt." Despite this claim, she was very scared about venturing inside the dark caves.

"Alright then. I'm gonna forge ahead and see how things look. Come join me once you're all ready to move, I'll try to stay at shouting distance."
Milan decidedly suggested Marleen should act as the leader given her condition in his leave, figuring that she'd be the best suited to guide a group of dazed and battered kids even if he was around to boss them. Milan always tried to do what he felt was best for those he looked after, but he wasn't going to deny that he was brash and unsuited to delicate situations like this. He'd be able to get them where they needed to be but there was slim chances they'd be very happy about it. In that sense somebody who would have no problem with waiting for hours on some dumb bird to pop out of a tree would easily be the best fit for the moment.
Cautiously feeling out his steps, Milan creeps deeper and deeper into the stone passage. "Geez its pitch dark in here. The one time I forget to pack a lighter and I'm stuck in this mess." Hoping by now his eyes would have adjusted to the light, or lack there of, he tries his best to make out anything that could be helpful... or dangerous. There are usually many hazardous in caverns for an uninitiated explorer; Just a brief reflection on how Milan and the crew ended up here was enough to know that the hosts of those nature documentaries between the hour blocks of stuff blowing up and freakishly large people definitely knew what they were talking about.
Whatever may be ahead, Milan knew he ought to prepare for the worse.

...After some time spent laying down, Ryon felt it was high-time to get a better feel of his surroundings. Better that he was merely gazing at daisies, rather than pushing them. Were they daisies? Again, he wasn't the sort to know.
He tried getting up by pushing with his arms, though it seemed his left arm really was sprained. Seemed to be bleeding a little, but no broken bones. He got up to his feet, and rubbed his arm.
"Hmm. I appear to have a harmed appendage, after all. This requires immediate medical attention. The prescription: one dose of STAR POWAH!"
Ryon dug through his light blue bag, which had helped cushion his prior fall, and pulled out one colorful sticker sheet. He pulled off a somewhat large star sticker half the size of his forearm, and stuck it gently on his cut. It wasn't a bandage, sure, but it was a good substitute, what with none being available to him.
...Oh. Looks like there were bandages. Ah, well. Star stickers look way better. He looked at the surrounding kids, taking note of their conditions. Milan seemed to have gone ahead, and Marleen was offering sandwiches. Not being the sort to interact much, he quietly, but loudly enough to be heard, said "...No thanks. I'm not all that hungry right now."
Wayne looked like he was in pain, and Yumi seemed to be...observing. Pretty typical for the others, he assured himself. Still, being in a deep, dark cavern like this...it gave him the sense of adventure. A little...scarier than playing pretend at home, but certainly exciting. In a terrifying sort of way. Being more excited at the prospect of adventure than to stick around with the others, he quietly went ahead in the direction Milan went, keeping a small distance behind him.

The caverns stayed silent save for the wind and birds above as the party woke and began to gather themselves, two of the number going deeper into the dark passage, further into the caverns. Under a spot of light from one of the rare holes in the mountain underneath which grass could grow was waiting a flower. A slightly frustrated flower, waiting for the child he knew had to be in the next room to show themselves, come close to death, and then ultimately escape for another day. It was always the same, loop after loop, never quite changing. He'd learned to accept it. But this time... He heard something different. New voices, multiple of them, and one in particular coming closer. Oh yes, this was new. This was exciting. As Milan and Ryon came further into the passage, the spot of light and grass came slowly closer into view, a tall golden flower grinning at them from the center. "Howdy! I'm Flowey! Flowey the flower!" Flowey put on his most innocent voice, reserved for those occasions in which he needed to play the part of a simple, harmless plant. "You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha? That was quite the fall you must have taken!" Party Info ~~Party Inventory [5/25, 0G]~~ Packed Lunch x5 *Heals 8HP

Nono I was going to post here before I updated Vedti today now I'm too late!!
After about a minute, Wayne begins to hear faint voices from the dark tunnel ahead. Mildly worried, but mostly intrigued, he announced, "I should probably start moving forward... It sounds like something is happening over there." Wayne starts moving into the tunnel, but due to the unfortunate state of his leg, it takes him about four minutes to get to the clearing.

Yumi was snapped out of their observation by the voices coming from the tunnel. They had planned to enter it with the two who had entered the tunnel before, but they kind of got distracted by figuring out how far they'd fallen. They ran ahead, and upon seeing the smiling flower, tried to skid to a halt. Unfortunately, they failed, falling face first on top of Flowey.

The light ahead of the tunnel was a good sign... Wait.
"Uhh. Okay so if there's a light in a tunnel you want to go towards it because that means there's fresh air and a way out... But it could also mean I'm actually dead and should DEFINITELY not go towards the tunnel." Milan mumbled quietly to himself as he tried to work out the meaning of this scenario. "Am I joshing myself here? I don't feel hurt, but maybe that's because I'm already a ghost? God damn am I'm gonna be angry if I've actually been a ghost this whole time and didn't need to be sitting at the bottom of a hole all this time."
As Milan tried to work out his self induced existential doubts, his eyes climbed down the light pillar towards the chipper squeaking ahead. It seems that Milan and Wayne had discovered a talking flower.
"Howdy! I'm Flowey! Flowey the flower!" The simple, harmless plant introduced itself in a most innocent voice. "You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha? That was quite the fall you must have taken!"
Milan for his part kinda hated flowers, but he knew that generally speaking they didn't talk to you with redundant commentary of your plights, so something was up here. Maybe he really did hit his head on the way down. "Heeeey, Wayne... Are you seeing the flower thing talking too?" Milan loudly whispered over his shoulder as he kneeled down in contemplation.
As the delinquent waited for the others to discuss the nature of this oddity, Yumi quite unexpectantly bolted forward for somebody Milan had last seen still off their feet. Although he was rather impressed by the good time Yumi made through the tunnel, he was more concerned with how that mad running was going to be a problem if it was going to end with crashing or falling off of and onto whatever was just ahead.
"'Oy! You want to finish off what the mountain started or something Yumi?! Take it easy the cave isn't going anywhere."
Holding out his hand, Milan yanked Yumi up off the ground and back to their feet. "Now look what you did, you crushed the Happy Flower flat; It looks like it got stomped on by school's youth soccer league on their first day with cleats. It sure is a good thing that flowers don't feel pain I guess because if that was me I would be in a world of hurt.
Milan continued to wax about just how badly Yumi pulverized the flower for a bit longer. Although he was making a big deal about it the truth was deep inside he was just really happy it wasn't a hallucination he thought up.

Flowey watched as Milan kneeled down and tried to confirm his existence with the other child, unsure if he should be amused or annoyed by the doubt at his reality. Amused, probably. After all this was bound to be an amusing ReseWAIT AHFGH...that definitely hurt, Milan's waxing poetic about flowey being squashed being joined with the expression and sound of pain from the flower. While he was siginificantly less prone toa being squashed than a normal flower, Yuki's weight had been plenty enough to flatten his stem and petals. While it certainly wouldn't kill him, it was going to hurt for quite a while. "a..are.. any o..f y-you... idiots g-goin..g to h-help...the flower..?" Is it ok if I join in? Just realized this existed but don't want to ruin this... Character Sheet Name: Kim Gender: Female Age: 9 Soul: Justice Description: Yellow and white striped shirt with a ponytail, Kim is heavily inspired by superheros. She tries to be like one despite being a weak 9 year old, which gets her into trouble. This mix of stupidity, dedication and kindness make Kim pretty great.
Stats:

Update "Ugh..." Kim groans, as she finds herself staring at the floor. She sees a kid walk into a cave, but is too dazed to try and yell at him. Soon, Kim's depth perception kicks in, and she realizes that she's in the air. "DID I FINALLY LEARN HOW TO FLY OH MY GOD," Kim yells in her head. Upon looking up, Kim finds her leg trapped on a vine. One wiggle later and Kim falls onto the flower bed below.
Now once again dazed, Kim starts to admire the scenery, saying "This would make a really good secret base". Suddenly, a scream is heard from the cave. Kim, who has already forgotten about the kid who walked into the cave from earlier, yells "FEAR NOT, PERSON IN NEED, FOR THE MIGHTY AND ALL POWERFUL KIMMANDER WILL SAVE YOU!"
Rushing to the cave, Kim sees a bunch of kids like herself standing around an injured flower. The flower spits out...
Suddenly, Kim's mind is brought back to herself following an episode of Supperman, a superhero-themed cooking show. In this episode, Supperman made a simple packed lunch out of the fridge (don't want any kids burning themselves now do we). Seeing the opportunity to heroically sacrifice her only possession in hand for the greater good, Kim grabs her only packed lunch from her inventory (not the group inventory, assuming you put 5 packed lunches because of 5 packed players) and feeds it to the flower. "YET ANOTHER LIFE HAS BEEN SAVED BY THE KIMMANDER!", Kim shouts proudly."

((Sorry Lenrap. I'd be for you joining but it'd be kinda unrealistic in an undertale campaign for you to suddenly appear like thus. We'd have to figure at this point that you have been tagging along unnoticed by the rest of the kids all the way up the mountain. If my opinion's in the minority however by my co-players or the Gamemeister himself then I'm fine with it.))

((Spindow's right. I actually gave this a solid few days after everyone who was going to join had already put their sheets in to start, just so anyone else who noticed this and wanted to join could. The problem is, with the way the "plot" was formatted when I came up with the concept, everyone who fell was supposed to fall at once, so once the thing started there wasn't going to be room for anyone else to join. However, if no one else minds another player joining at this point, I can work with you to get Kim in, just either ignoring the issue at the agreement of the other players, or saying that she either followed the group up from behind, or just happened to also go exploring on her own at about the same time. But again, it's partially up to everyone else, and this'll be the only time this can happen. So... Anyone who doesn't mind Lenrap joining in, raise a hand over at www.strawpoll.me/10482935. Except you, Lenrap. That'd be cheap.))
EDIT: ((It appears we have had a vote. Erryone welcome in Kim heyah.)) The call of adventure comes in many ways, to many people, at many times. Sometimes, lightning strikes in quick succession. In this case, that a sixth soul decided to go to Mount Ebott the same day as our others. It wouldn't be a fabulous entrance, the girl simply falling onto the same bed of flowers the others had only barely left, but big things can come of something simple.
